Dear Barrett Parents,
Greetings to all ! Our next monthly meeting is on Sat. 10 Apr. It is that time of year when we elect new officers to serve on the Barrett Parents Board. When I came on as President of the Board last year, my goal was to involve as many new parents in what we do at this organization because I truly believe that new members bring with them fresh ideas. This university is all about inclusion & by understanding its vision I was determined to bring in new parents with diverse beliefs & viewpoints to the Parents Association . To a great extent I succeeded in this mission as is evident by the candidates that plan to run for 3 positions on the Board ; Irene Magerman, Tom Graves & Debra Ash are all parents of freshman at Barrett ! The following are candidates running for election & they are all deserving.
President: David Hammerslag & Irene Magerman.
Vice President: Tom Graves.
Treasurer: Debra Ash & Kirstin Johnson
Secretary: Mimi Pruniski
I will continue to encourage all of you to become involved in the philanthropic work we do for this great university. 2009-10 was also the year when we raised the most amount of money for our student programs ! So, the Parents Board has decided to contribute $6000 to the school toward the reception for the graduating class & their parents at the May convocation . A huge thanks to all parents for their contributions.
With finals approaching please remind your student to avail of the free resources available on campus for academic success. Free tutoring is available at several residence halls & Noble library. Please remind your seniors to submit their thesis in order to graduate from Barrett in May.
